✦ Synopsis

THIS is an interesting collection of eighteen papers, of which three deal with haemorrhoids and the remainder with varices of the lower limb. As would be expected in a work under the direction of Prof. Sicard, much mess is laid upon the injection methods which he so ably pioneered. A lesser role is ascribed to more radical surgery than most surgeons in these islands would accept, but a good description of technique is given. Phlebography is well described, with the commonsense conclusion that it is only advisable in unusual doubtful cases.

This book is well worth reading by any surgeon interested in the therapy of varices.
