✦ Synopsis

The most important means of elucidating the pathway(s) of metabolism is, probably, the actual identification of all the enzymes involved in the postulated pathway. As far as the authors are aware, there has been no systematic attempt to elucidate the metabolic pathways in spores of fungi, although considerable progress has been made in the field of bacterial spores. Earlier studies by BI4AT~ACAn and KRIS~XAN (1959) with metabolic inhibitors had indicated the possible operation of the Embden-IVieyerhof-Parnas pathway in germinated spores of Asperffillus niger. For confirmation of the results of inhibition studies with

The germination of spores of microorganisms has been studied in detail with reference to bacterial spores (HALvo~so~ and CgvRcI~ 1957). ## Abstract Inhibition of radial growth and spore germination of __Aspergillus niger__ in media with added chitosan were detected. The highest radial growth inhibition (73%) was determined at 24 h with 3 g · L^βˆ’1^ of chitosan, and the percent inhibition of spore germination was 40% after 13 h of in
