✦ Synopsis

All attempts to demonstrate the presence of a bacterial carboxy-peptidase were negative. No dipeptidase, aminopolypeptidase, or deaminase was found in the cell-free filtrates of young, rapidly growing cultures. Evidently, these enzymes are strictly endocellular.
