✦ Synopsis
There is increasing awareness of environmental concerns relating to development issues throughout the industrialised nations. This is felt to be particularly relevant to the South East Asian region with its very fast-growing economies and many major infrastructure development projects currently underway or in the planning stages.
The Symposium in Print on "Environmental Geotechnics" will aim to focus awareness within the South East Asia region on the important environmental issues that need to be faced in the geotechnical community. Papers on any relevant subject will be considered for publication, especially those which deal with the geotechnical aspects of the following: (1) groundwater contamination; (2) industrial dereliction and restoration; (3) mining and quarrying in urban areas; (4) sanitary landfill; (5) sewerage and waste disposal.
Papers must be relevant to the Southeast Asian region, and case histories will be particularly welcomed. The deadline for completed papers is December 31st, 1991 with publication, as a special issue of "Geotechnical Engineeering", planned for May 1992.
