โฆ Synopsis
Traditionally, electric power systems are operated in such a way that the economic indices are minimized regardless of emissions produced. With increased requirements for environmental protection, environmental-economic strategies are required. In this work, a series of environmental-economic unit commitment (EEUC) models are presented. Mixed-integer linear formulations for the presented EEUC models are proposed. The EEUC is modeled by including the environmental considerations in the conventional unit commitment (UC) model. The presented EEUC models are formulated as mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) because MILP is flexible in revising objective function and adding new constraints and variables. In the MILP framework, the linearization of non-convex production cost with valve point effect, start-up/shutdown costs, non-convex production emissions, and start-up/shut-down emissions, are accurate with practical purpose. Finally, an example system is studied to illustrate the presented models and method.
