✦ Synopsis

It is shown how the expression for the entropy production in an electrochemical

system has to be generalized so to include the case of non-uniform pressure. Then the statement about the equalization of pressures follows from the non-negative character of the entropy production, just as do the other statements about irreversible processes inside the system.
