โœฆ Synopsis

Kuntz ('38) and Kuntz and Saccomanno ('44), using cats, demonstrated that 21 to 40 days following transection of the mesenteric nerves, intact nerve fibers remained in the mesentery between the plane of transection and the intestine. Kuntz suggested that, since sensory fibers and axons from the preaortic ganglia would have degenerated, these intact fibers might be axons of ganglion cells located in the enteric plexus. This paper is the result of an attempt to find a physiologic basis for such a n assumption.
