✦ Synopsis
The attack of water or NaOH soluuon on YBa2Cu3OT_zpowder prior to sintering forms large crystallites in the sintered ceramic product. This enhanced crystalhnity y~elds a higher density and larger critical current. The water or NaOH solution treatment of the YBCO powder leads to the formation of a BaO-CuO flux during the smtenng process. Water exposure though destructive to YBCO in general can be used in an advantageous way for preparation of smtered YBCO ceramic material.
