Abstract
CaTiO~3~:Pr^3+^,Bi^3+^,B^3+^ red phosphor particles were prepared by a peroxideβbased route. Xβray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and photoluminescence (PL) were utilized to characterize the resulting phosphors. Bi^3+^ codoping improves the excitation properties, especially under nearβUV (370β400 nm) light excitation. A small amount of B~2~O~3~ can act as a flux to accelerate the formation of CaTiO~3~ host lattice and improve the PL properties of CaTiO~3~:Pr^3+^,Bi^3+^ phosphor. Under UV excitation, the strongest red emission is obtained from CaTiO~3~:0.05%Pr^3+^, 1.0%Bi^3+^,0.3B^3+^. (Β© 2009 WILEYβVCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
