08 Steam raising (boiler operation~design) more completely in the boiler, due to the earlier release of biomass volatiles. The NOx emission data in the transient experiments indicate that biomass more readily releases NOx even at lower temperatures. However, when the furnace reached higher temperatures, the blend released less NOx than coal despite the higher N content of FB; but CO emission increased. The long duration experiments in the modified facility confirm NOx reduction with the firing of blend. Large scale pilot plant tests performed at the DOE National Energy Technology Laboratories, Pittsburgh confirm improved combustion, but NO~ emission are the same for both the coal and blend.

For tangential coal fired boilers, the gas temperature deviation at the exit of the furnace will occur when boiler capacity becomes large. In this paper, the flow, heat transfer and combustion process in a boiler of 300 MWe unit at Shiheng Power Plant, Shandong, China and a boiler of 600 MWe unit at
