Abstract

At present, experimental studies on the primary genetic lesion in A^y^/A^y^ embryos are restricted by the absence of techniques designed to identify A^y^ homozygotes prior to the onset of secondary defects. This paper describes a methodology to enrich the yields of A^y^ homozygotes in experimental populations by taking advantage of an early homozygous A^y^ expression‐lagging development in 4‐cell embryos.

## Abstract Preimplantation embryos from matings between yellow heterozygous (A^y^/a) mice were recovered at 56 hours __post coitum__, cultured for five days, and compared with the development of embryos from three control matings (A^y^/a ♀ Γ— a/a β™‚, a/a ♀ Γ— A^y^/a β™‚, a/a ♀ Γ— a/a β™‚).
