✦ Synopsis

Studies of the low-temperature heat capacity in the titanates La~_~Sr~TiOs and Y:_xCaxTiOs have showed a significant increase of the coefficient of electronic specific heat, 7, due to the strong electronic correlations on approachinp the metal-insulator transition boundary. The Mott transition is characterized by the divergent increase of renormalized electron mass with band filling.

The metal-to-insulator (MI) transition in the Y1 \_xCa~TiO3 system is known to occur at x = 0.35. Furthermore, near this critical metallic region, electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility show a broad peak around 170 K and are accompanied by clear thermal hysteresis. This thermal hysteresi
