The present revised English-Amharic dictionary is largely based on the popular The Oxford Intermediate Dictionary widely used around the English-speaking world- The compilers have nevertheless used other reference materials and dictionaries to broaden the scope of the present translation. This work contains more than 11,000 English entries. Effort is made to provide the user with as much corresponding Amharic terms as possible for each entry. Numbers are used to denote different Amharic meanings of the same English word while synonymous Amharic terms are separated by commas. Additional care is taken to provide the most appropriate pronunciation to each and every world in Amharic on ttie basis of English phonetics. In view of the ever widespread use of English as a working language, this dictionary would probably make another contribution in a bid to meet the needs of junior and high school students as well those of genem! users.Языки и языкознание;Африканские языки;Амхарский язык
