โœฆ Synopsis

The paper presents key results of the studies on energy-technology installations for combined coal-based production of hydrogen and electricity. Special attention is paid to the development of systems, as part of ETI, for cryogenic removal of CO 2 from combustion products. Consideration is given to the issues of mathematical modeling of the installations and nonlinear technical and economic optimization of their parameters with regard to investments in the CO 2 removal systems. Comparison of efficiency of ETI for hydrogen production and ETI for production of alternative energy carriers (methanol and dimethyl ether) with CO 2 removal is presented.

Policy instruments clearly influence the choice of production technologies and fuels in large energy systems, including district heating networks. Current Swedish policy instruments aim at promoting the use of biofuel in district heating systems, and at promoting electric power generation from renew
