✦ Synopsis

Energy loss for 2.0-6.0 MeV 14 N ions, 3.0-6.5 MeV 31 P ions and 3.0-6.5 MeV 75 As ions in thin foils of polycarbonate and polyethylene terephthalate were measured by means of a transmission technique using a half-covered silicon surface barrier detector. During the measurement, the charged particle count rates were kept below 100 cps in order to minimize dead time and radiation damage in the system. The obtained data are compared with the SRIM 2003 calculation and the ICRU Report 73. Most of the measurement results compare quite favorably with the ICRU Report 73.
