โฆ Synopsis
EndNote is a 'Reference Database and Bibliography Maker' for the Apple Macintosh. It allows the user to key in any bibliographic reference just once into its database, and then provides a citation tag for all the user's references. It is then possible to choose the house style required for the bibliography by a near-literal click of the mouse. It is designed to be used in conjunction with the popular Macintt, sh word-processing packages, MacWrite, WriteNow, and Microsoft Word 3.0 Word Perfect will be added in due course. End-Note requires a System file higher than version 4.1 and (sensibly) a hard disk although it can work, claim Niles & Associates, with a single-drive machine.
The single installation disk contains the main program (183K), a folder with the style sheets, and an examples folder consisting of one small library (EndNote's term for a single collection of references) together with the same sample input file in each of the 3 formats it can use above. It is completed by a desk accessory (97K) which needs to be installed in the System file. EndNote includes the following 7 style sheets: APA, Chicago, MLA, MLA Note (a variant of the last), Nature, Science, and Vancouver. It also includes a further 2 generic styles: Author-Data and Numbered.
