gins theory, modem theoretical approaches developed by Khokhlov and Nyrkova as well as Piculel et al. are covered. These theories describe phase equilibria in polyelectrolyte solutions which is especially important for biopolymer mixtures.

Next chapters written mainly by British authors are devoted to some particular aspects of the problem. Among them are kinetics of demixing treated theoretically by the author (A. H. Clark), effects shear (C. R. 7: Brown, 1: 1 Foster and I. 1: Norton), depletion flocculation (fl A . Williams and N 1 Smith) which is of primary importance for the stability of dispersed systems in polymer solutions. Rheological methods are discussed by S. B. RowMurphy and S.

Kasapis. An achievement in this field is the development of the method, based on the gel-deswelling approach, which allows to analyse the distribution of the solvent in two-phase systems. Regretfully large deformation area is only shortly touched in the book. Other chapters include ligth scattering, optical and electron microscopy. The possibilities of NMR relaxation methods to investigate twophase biopolymer systems are discussed in the chapter written by M.
