โฆ Synopsis
This encylopedia presents approximately 500 of the most commonly used natural ingredients in foods, drugs, and cosmetics. It covers their identification, processing, preparation, and manner of use. Emphasis is placed on drugs and herbal formulations which we now use to alleviate stress and other lifestyle-related conditions; there is also a new section on Chinese medicinal herbs. A typical description of a natural ingredient will give the source, synonyms, a general description, chemical composition, pharmacology of biological activity, uses, commercial preparation, and several follow-up references. This book will be a useful addition to the library, particularly for those whose interests are in the food, drug, and cosmetic area. It is not the sort of book that is a personal ''must have'' but rather is a reference. The authors are to be complimented for putting together such a useful reference book containing a wealth of useful information.
