✦ Synopsis

A enantioselective procedure is described for the preparation of (lR,3R,4R)-I-hydroxy isopulegol 3 and (lR,3$4R)-1-hydroxy neoisopulegol 4 in 4 steps starting from geraniol. Their enantiomers (lS,3S,4S)-1 -hydroxy isopulegol 5 and (lR,3S,4R)-Ihydroxy neoisopulegol 5 were prepared analogously. These compounds were converted to 1 -hydroxy neoisomenthoi 7,8 and 1 -hydroxy isomenthol 9, 10. Most of these compounds possess an organoleptic property.
