Damsels in distress seem to always find Doug Renaud. He doesn't mind being their knight in shining armor, but there are limits to what he can do. When he visits a patient in a psychiatric hospital, he knows there's a chance his life is going to get an extra dose of drama. He just didn't know that drama included meeting the woman of his dreams working as a nurse at the hospital. Not that simply finding her means everything will fall into place in Doug's love life.

There's not a day that goes by that Lizzie Ellens isn't looking over her shoulder. After escaping an abusive husband, she and her two-year-old son have jumped around from city to city, trying to keep a step ahead of him.
