✦ Synopsis


Laser excitation at 206-232 nm of a supersonic free jet ofCd(CHj)2 produced an emission due to one-photon absorption from vibrationally cold A CdCH,. The O-O line was at 444.1 nm and ground-state vibrational frequencies of 345 cm-' (Cd-CH, stretch) and 998 cm-' (CH, umbrella mode) were measured. Much stronger emissions caused bg multiphoton absorption were seenar the atomic linesof Cd-'P, (326.1 nm) and Cd 'P (228.8 nm), and the A+X transitlon of CH.
