We report the analysis of the H1 u ( 3 P 1 ) state of I 2 by optical-optical double resonance. This state lies in the second tier of ion-pair states and its observation was achieved by using the (1 ϩ 2) photoexcitation sequence using the A 3 ⌸ 1u state as an intermediate. The molecular parameters we

✦ Synopsis
The emission cross sections have been measured for the diagonal Fulcherdl bands (3p311u, u'+ 2s3Z& IJ" with u'= u"= 0, 1,2,3) in Ha by means of electron impact. Prom these the excitation cross section for the 3p3$, state has been dctermined. We found a maximum value of 4.2 (k 0.8) X 1O-'8 cm2 at 15.6 eV which is in good agreement with the corresponding cross section calculated by Chung et al., equal to 4.1 X lo-r8 cm '. Our excitation function (O-100 eV) also agrees with the calculated one but differs from that obtained experimentally by other investigators. Probable reasons for this discrepancy a& discussed.

We describe the results of optical-optical double-resonance spectroscopy of Cl2 on the 1,(3Pt)+-(hvl)-A%( 1,) + (hu, )-X 'Zi transition. The state-selective transition from the ground state of Cl2 to the A 'lI( I,) state was observed by scanning the pump laser ( hu, ) frequency, while furing the pro
Cl calculations for the Swan and Fox-Henberg band intenutles III C2 are reported and excellent agreement with euperimental values is found. The X IReI' values vary strongly with bond drstance and in ~ertarn C;IWS az~ found to depend ng-ruticantl~ on the length of the Cl eupmslon.
Photoemission cmss sections of Penning ionization have been measured at 150 meV for collision of He\*( 2 %3 ) with N1O by using the crossed-beam method and observing fluorescence in the 335-415 nm region. The emission cross section of the NzO+ (;d %+-g %) system obtained is (7.7 f 2.1) x 10-\*0m2. T
