β¦ Synopsis
Emission and excitation spectra of undoped lead lanthanum zirconate titanate (PLZT) and chromium-, iron-, neodymiumand praseodymium-doped samples were recorded at 77 K. The spectral characteristics were analyzed with respect to the effects of the doping atmosphere, types of dopant and dopant concentration. Undoped PLZT ceramic has a visible absorption resulting from an iron impurity. Upon doping with chemically active ions, an increase in the visible light absorptivity is revealed in the excitation spectrum. A large photocurrent is detected at 400-500 nm, correlating with the chemically active iron ions.
