✦ Synopsis
An embedded image coder based on wavelet transform
Attempts have been made in combining VQ with the wavelet coding and multistage vector quantization (VQ) is proposed in this transform, e.g., [2,5]. One example is to apply tree-structure research. We have examined several critical issues to make the provector quantization (TSVQ) to wavelet coefficients, which results posed algorithm practically applicable. They include the complexity in a wavelet/VQ compression method. Since decoded data can of embedded VQ, design of the successive vector quantizer, signifibe progressively refined as they proceed through the tree struccance evaluation of a vector symbol, and integration of wavelet transture, TSVQ provides an embedded coding scheme. However, form coding and vector quantization. It is shown in experiments that these algorithms did not propose any importance measure of the the new method achieves a superior rate-distortion performance.
