✦ Synopsis

This book provides a characterization of complex water systems and systeni analysis methodologies concerning water bodies in industrial regions of the world, mainly with respect to physical configuration, management, operation, political goals and environmental interactions. "From this we conclude that whatever we do to meet new exigencies requires an understanding of the present in-place complex water systems". The system a.pproa.ch and the a,pplication of mathemat, ical systems analysis are discussed. Some of the material is highly theoretical. The section on case studies describes the management of water services in England, in the German Wupper System and the Rhine, in Sicily, Turkey and in rivers and reservoirs of n'orth America. Some pollution problems a,re included, such as t.he BOD load. Any approa,ch to determining environmental interwtions should definitely take hydrobiological factors int,o considerat, ion, but these are t'otally missing from this book.
