✦ Synopsis

Two properties of a propagative deterministic context-free Lindenmayer system permit the determination of values which can be used in tests for histogenetic and morphogenetic hypotheses, just as segregation proportions after hybridization can be confronted with values from the Mendelian model. The procedure used is explained by means of an example of filamentous growth of a green alga, Chaetomorpha linum KOtz. (Cladophorales), and of the branching system of another green alga, Codium fragile (Sur.) Hariot (Siphonales).
