A solution of Kl in DMF-THF (1:l) was used as aprotic solvent in electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ES&MS) of neutral organic compounds, The potassium ions brought about the ionization. The new method was tested with poly(ethylene glycol) and applied to compounds unusual for EXX-MS.
