✦ Synopsis

The dependence of the electronic transition moment, Re(R), of the A10(B 2X+-X 2E+) system on the internuclear distance, R, has been determined by an analysis of the intensity distribution of the emission spectra as Re(R)= [1 -2.29(13XR/,~-1.5) 2] (1.510 A ~<R ~< 1.836 ,~). The R dependences of Re(R) and the X 2X+~ m2ili off-diagonal spin-orbit interaction matrix element, HS°(R), have been analyzed simultaneously to evaluate the R dependence of the A12+O2-character in the X 2X+ state and that of the orbital exponent of the oxygen atom. The results agree with the theoretical prediction by Lengsfield and Liu (J. Chem. Phys. 77 (1982) 6083) that the charge-transfer process, AI 2+ 02---, AI+O -, takes place in the range of 1.6 A < R < 2.1 ,~.

The relative intensity of the SiN( B \*x\*-X \*Z') emission spectrum was analyzed. The relative value of the electronic transition moment, k(R), was found to depend linearly on the internuclear distance, R, as k(R) = I -0.493( 12) (R/A) (l.O55<R6 1.835 A). The validity of the r-centroid approximatio
