✦ Synopsis


Electronic structures and energy relaxation processes have been studied in the low-lying triplet states of chlorobenzene in rtgid matrices at 77 K. Time-resolved phosphorescence So -T excitation spectra, phosphorescence spectra and their decays by S,-+T excitation have been measured. Analysis of the results confirms the '(no*) state lying close to the lowest '(rr,x*) state and supports the dual phosphorescence emission mechanism proposed previously.
