✦ Synopsis
Structure-induced effects on the electronic density of states exist in disordered metals quite similar to those in crystalline materials. The electron-ion interaction causes pseudo-gaps at pseudo-Brillouinzone boundaries. We report here the existence of such effects and for the first time a distinct temperature dependence of a pseudo-gap at E F. This gap gets less pronounced from the amorphous to the liquid state, and within the liquid state disappears with increasing temperature. This finding might have a strong impact on the theory of electron transport.
