A novel synthetic material -ferromagnetic carbon (FMC) -produced in polyacrylonitrile pyrolitic decomposition has been studied via Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS). It has been stated, that the main impurities in FMC are nitrogen and oxygen; their conten

β¦ Synopsis
Abstrati-The experimental carbon Auger lineshape for two samples of carbyne has been obtained. The electronic structure of carbynes has been calculated by the self-deconvolution of experimental Auger spectra. Results are discussed in terms of the electronic properties of linear molecules with 2-6 carbon atoms. It is shown that both carbyne samples have a linear structure with cumulene-type bonds but with different numbers of atoms in the chain. The influence of annealing at T < 600Β°C on the carbyne structure has been studied. The electron energy loss spectrum of carbynes is analyzed.

Electron energy-loss spectra of -rhombohedral boron ( -r-B) were obtained from perfect crystalline areas of 180 nm diameter. The onset of the spectral intensity was observed at 2.4 eV (band gap energy). The volume plasmon peak due to the sp valence electrons is at 24.5 eV with a full width at half m
The diagnostic potential of reΓected electron energy-loss microscopy (REELM) and scanning Auger microscopy (SAM) are explored with respect to two particular aspects encountered in the surface microchemical analysis of semiconductor materials : determining the kind of coverage, i.e. whether continuou
Electron energy-loss spectra of Li-and V-doped -rhombohedral boron ( -r-B) were measured from perfect crystalline areas of 180 nm in diameter. The onset of spectra of Li-doped -r-B was observed at about 1.5 eV, but that of V-doped -r-B was not clearly observed. The volume plasmon peaks of Li-and V-d
