β¦ Synopsis
Effects of the transfer integral between p-orbitals, tpp , on the electronic states (in particular, the so-called in-gap states) in the d-p model are investigated within the approximation to the leading order in the 1 /N expansion, by solving the self-consistent equations for the single particle Green's functions numerically in the low-temperature limit. They are critically dependent upon the sign oft,,: negative tpp affects the overall electronic structures near the Fermi level, including the in-gap states and the main p-bands, only quantitatively, while positive tpp changes those even qualitatively. In the latter case, it always happens that the main p-bands overlap indirectly with the in-gap band by increasing the number of doped holes, and the system becomes semi-metallic.
