✦ Synopsis
Imidogen radical-argon complexes have been spectroscopically characterized by laser-induced fluorescence in the vicinity of the NH c 'H-a 'A O-O transition. At least 14 new features have been detected over a 241 cm-' spectral region, indicating that the binding energy of Ar to NH c 'H is > 241 cm-'. The spectral shift of these features with respect to NH places a lower limit of 128 cm-' on the NH( a 'A)-Ar binding energy. Rotationally resolved spectra give the average separation of Ar to NH in both electronic states. Comparisons are made to a recent ab initio calculation of the NH(a 'A) +Ar interaction potential,
