Translational and romtionnl populalion disrribulions were measured Tar the X 'Z+ ground states of Nz and CO+ in plasma environments by velocity modulation laser spectroscopy. Tbrsc experiments rcvral rotational state-dependent linewidths for CO+ in low-pressure plasmas. while translaGna1 temperatures in w-s of rotational temperatures. and non-Boltzmann rotational dist~butions were absented for both of these ions in Iow-pxssure plasmas.
