โฆ Synopsis
Observed splittings in the microwave electronic spectra of H2+ and D2+ are explained in terms of electronic g/u symmetry breaking due to the Fermi contact interaction. Calculated splittings are in excellent agreement with experiment. Implications for other transitions are discussed.
