on the Internet has the potential to generate billions of transactions, but the ntnnbcr of merchants providing goods or services on the Internet will be so large that it will becon~ impossible for humans to visit each site and decide where it is best to buy or sell goods. In this paper WC develop intelligent trade agents that are able to roan, a network, collect and analyze data from servers on the network and make dccisionr to buy alld sell goods on bchalf of a user. The combination of distributed-object tcchnoloby and sin& and public key encryption mechanisms make thccc agents sprI)rc irrtd/$y~r trade qwts.
WC show that distributed-object technology 1s an enabling technolob~ for intelligent trade agents.
