✦ Synopsis
The electronic transitions of C& and C& isolated iu 5 K neon matrices were detected with well-resolved vibrational structure after NeI irradiation of CW during deposition. On the basis of a C& spectrum obtained by growing a matrix with a mass-selected C& ion beam, overlapping peaks in the electronic spectra were assigned to either C& or C,. The vibrational frequencies 1406 and 1332 cm-' for C&,, and 1386 and 1202 cm-' for C&, were identified in a neon matrix from the infrared spectrum. Cs was also detected after codepositing Na and K with Cm, without irradiation. Relevance of the data to interstellar observations is

Electronic structures of the icosahedral C&H,,, hydrocarbon and its perfhroro analog, C6nF6,,, are examined at the HF/4-31G and HF/6-3 lG\*\* levels. The calculated C-C bond lengths are as large as 1.57 A in C63Hb0 and 1.63 A in CbDF60. The bond lengthening is attributed to the H-H and F-F steric in
Resonant electron capture by C 60 and C 70 was studied and it was established that long-lived (i.e. mass spectrometrically observable) parent negative ions are formed within an extremely broad energy region (0-14 eV). It has been shown that effective yield curves of C 60 -and C 70 -in the thermal en
## Abstract Electronic and vibrational nuclear relaxation (NR) contributions to the dipole (hyper)polarizabilities of the endohedral fullerene Li@C~60~ and its monovalent cation [Li@C~60~]^+^ are calculated at the (U)B3LYP level. Many results are new, while others differ significantly from those re
We used infrared and Raman spectroscopy to investigate single crystals of the compound C60(C~H,2)0.88(C7H8)0.05 We observed the signatures of the individual components Csa and pentane in the infrared spectrum with minimal changes when compared to solvent-free solid or solution spectra. The correspon
Analysis of the Raman spectra of three brominated ftierenes, obtained at 1 cm-' resolution, provides supporting evidence for the structural models derived from X-my single crystal studies. The measured Raman frequencies can be mtiottaliied on tbe basis of symmetry considerations.
