โฆ Synopsis
Two clays have been studied by means of a copper acetylacetonate probe. Swelling clays (montmorillotaites) and non-swelling clays (kaolinites) have been investigated. Kaolinite-Na (K1-Na) shows a clear interaction with the copper complex. At room temperature, the electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra of K1-Ca do not show a real axial symmetry. In spite of the large basal spacing of the montmorillonites (Na, Ca, and Zr) the spectra are less well resolved than those of kaolinite. The tensor components gll, gยฑ, All and Aยฑ are obtained by numerical simulation of the spectra. Adapted parameters are calculated in order to determine the magnitude and nature of the interaction of the copper complex with the clays.
