Abstract

Low-level chemiluminescence is produced in a hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 )/gallic acid/haemoprotein system with single broad peaks around 520 nm, regardless of the biological role of the haemoprotein. Highly resolved electron spin resonance spectra of the or-tocopheroxyl or 2,2,5,7,8-pentamethylchroman-6oxyl radicals were obtained from the oxidation of cu-tocopherol (vitamin E) or its model compound, 2,2,5,7,8-pentamethyIchroman-6-01, with 2,2-diphenyl-l-picryIhydrazyl or superoxide ion. Complete
