✦ Synopsis
High-resolution ESR. spectra of the radicals CH2COOR, CH3CHCOOR and (CH3)ZCCOOR with R = CH3, CH2CH3, CH (CH,), and C (CH,), in liquid solution confirm planar energy-minimum structures with substantial barriers to internal rotation about the C, CO-bonds (-40 kJ/mol) and partial n-electron delocalization. The assignments of coupling constants to protons in isomeric positions and the conclusions on radical structures are supported by INDO-calculations.

Electron spin relaxation times of a Nycomed triarylmethyl radical (sym-trityl) in water, 1 : 1 water : glycerol, and 1 : 9 water : glycerol were measured at L-band, S-band, and X-band by pulsed EPR methods. In H 2 O solution, T 1 is 17 ± 1 µs at X-band at ambient temperature, is nearly independent o
The asphaltene of the Athabasca bitumen exhibits a single, structureless e.s.r. signal at a g-value of 2.0032 with an intensity corresponding to approximately one free spin per ninety molecules. From the temperature dependence of the absorption it is concluded that absorption is due to stable polycy
The role of alkyl substitution on the electronic structure of cyclohexane radical cation was investigated with low-temperature matrix ESR and semiempirical MO calculations. It was found that the unpaired electron, which is originally delocalized throughout the cyclohexane ring, tends to be confined
## Abstract Time‐resolved electron spin resonance (TR ESR) spectra allows direct observation of transient radicals (primary propagating radicals) obtained by the addition reaction of a diphenylphosphinoyl radical to acrylates. The addition rate constants (__k__~2~) of the diphenylphosphinoyl radica
