The competing processes ofelectron scavenging and electron-ion recombination in radiation-mduced spurs of several ion pairs in liquid hydrocarbons are analyzed using the Monte Carlo simulation method. The probability of scavenging as a function of the scavenger concentration and the initial cation-electron distance is calculated for the spurs containing initially from one to five ion pairs. A substantial decrease (up to 30%) of the scavenging probability m multl-pair clusters as compared to the predictions of the analytical single-pair theory is found.

The density distribution of an iodide ion in the vicinity of a water/platinum interface has been calculated by classical molecular dynamics simulations based on painvise additive interaction potentials. The approach of the iodide ion to the surface is strondy sterically hindered by the layer of adso
