## Abstract When single crystal BeO is X‐irradiated at room temperature, paramagnetic centers are formed. These centers are identified by EPR as electrons trapped at Al^3+^ impurities substitutional for beryllium ions. The __g__‐tensor is cylindrically symmetric with values __g__∥ = 2.003 and __g__
