β¦ Synopsis
Electron impact excitation rates are calculated for all transitions in He I and II between individual terms for n ~< 4. Rates calculated for a large number of different experimental, theoretical and semi-empirical cross sections are compared. The rates are approximated by the expression AT n exp(--c~Eo/kT) over the range 4000 ~< T ~< 50000K for He I and 104~< T ~< 105K for He n.
