✦ Synopsis

Formulas fully exploiting the periodicity symmetry of the electron density of polymers are deduced. They are shown to lead to efficient algorithms for the evaluation of Coulomb and exchange interactions in those systems.

Two kinds of electron densities for several small molecules (H(2), FH, CH(3)CH(3), CH(3)NH(2), CH(3)OH, and CH(3)F) have been generated for a wide range of bond distances. The first one, as the sum of the electron density of the isolated fragments, and the second one by optimizing the electron densi

Atomic dipole moments, derived within the Hirshfeld partitioning of the molecular electron density, have been studied for compounds of the type H-X and Cl-X, for a series of functional groups X frequently encountered in organic molecules. In the case of the H-X compounds, the component of the atomic

The cleavage force F(z) as a function of the additional separation z from equilibrium planar spacing can be usefully discussed in three regimes: (i) the Hooke law region F(z) = Az for small z, (ii) near its maximum, and (iii) the large z limit. Region (i) can be tackled by phonon theory, with approp
