โฆ Synopsis
The influence of electron correlations on the ground-state properties of transition metals is discussed. A number of corresponding effects are considered. Among them are a suppression of charge fluctuations, build-up of Hund's rule correlations, modification of the Stoner-Wohlfarth criterium for the onset of magnetic order, modification of magnetic volume effects, etc. Furthermore we discuss briefly the treatment of correlation effects at finite temperatures. Thereby it is important to go beyond the static approximation to the functional integral theory in order to property include the ground state correlations.
