✦ Synopsis

The electron density entering the kinetic potential of the local-density-approximation method can be corrected by using the density derived from the exchange potential. The resulting correction to the kinetic energy density is similar in form to the gradient terms obtained by Alonso and Girifalco on the basis of the exchange pair-correlation function.
