โœฆ Synopsis

The rekwce of quantities describing electron attachment proces~s in gases to hydrated electTon reaction rates is indicated. On the basis of current knowledge of attachment processes in gases, reaction rates for a number of molecules with the hydrated electron are predicted.

Resonant electron attachment to moIecules can be viewed as proceeding via a compound negative ion intermediate -formed by electron capture in either the field of the ground or excited electronic statesand can be summarized as: AX+esAX-* % AX (or AX*),t e ; (la) % A (or A*) + x--, (lb) PSt -AX-+ energy .
