✦ Synopsis

The electron affinitiy of MgCl has been measured to be 1.589 k 0.011 eV using photoelectron spectroscopy of an MgCI-ion beam. Spectroscopic constants for (X 'Z+)MgCI-were found to be w,=315f25 cm-', r,=2.37+0.01 A, B,=O.211+0.002 cm-' , and DO( Mg-Cl-) = 1.27 k 0.10 eV. Preliminary results for MgI-are also reported.
