Abstract

It is found that the wings of the EPR lines in ruby are an order of magnitude longer than they should be according to the theory of the magnetic dipole‐dipole broadening. The observed wings and calculated shape of the lines broadened by the electric quadrupole‐quadrupole interaction [I] are in good agreement.
