β¦ Synopsis
The present paper deals with the transient electromechanical interaction in a thin layer of liquid metal on sudden disruption of art imposed magnetic jield. The problem is of fundamental importance for understanding the transient performance of various magnetohydrodynamic devices, such as electromagnetic agitators, pumps, liquid metal machines, etc.
